Here is a non-exhaustive compilation of some places that will welcome you and a small description of what you will find there. Bijou : in Boston and in the Theater District not far from Chinatown and on Stuart Street, Bijou can accommodate about 650 people in what was The Bijou Theater in 1882. It's now a sleak and futuristic nightclub with super sound and amazing lightning with a selection of international DJs and an emphasis, it seems, on trance music. This club is not far from Walk in Boston # 9. Big Night Live : in Boston, a nightclub / concert hall that can accommodate up to 1,200 people in a chic industrial setting, just at the entrance to North Station. Inside Ouside (texte en français ci-dessous) A farmers ‘market in a historic barn, it’s unusual enough to mention it, and it’s in Marshfield, Massachusetts. Specifically on Friday afternoons in summer and on Saturday mornings in winter. On the wall and ceiling, old posters, tools from the farm, exhibitions of another age; outside, stands facing an area for rodeos and other shows held there at the annual summer agricultural fair; around, other wooden structures evoking the United States of the 1950s, although they may be much more recent; in the restrooms, posters on the specificities of certain animals (pigs roll in the mud to cool because they do not have sweat glands!). (texte en français ci-dessous) At the Museum of Printing in Haverhill, MA, about 45 minutes from Boston, you’ll learn everything you want to learn about the History of graphic arts and printing techniques. The museum was previously in North Andover; it relocated in Haverhill in 2017, in a shiny and huge new home. You’ll find there “hundreds of antique printing, typesetting, and bindery machines, as well as a library of books and printing-related documents”. It also has several galleries with rotating exhibitions and a store. The only disadvantage: it opens only on Saturdays, or on request, as it is staffed by volunteers. You cannot ask more from them, but you can ask a lot to them: they are all unbeatable about printing related matters and all enthusiastic about the museum and its mission. (texte en français ci-dessous) Established a little away from the main buildings of the campus, the MIT chapel is a small jewel of contemporary sacred architecture and if, entering inside, one can only feel the divine presence, it is also open to all religious denominations according to a precise schedule. If you needed a reason to think that prayer is universal and that the sacred can even move atheists, here it is. Designed by architect Eero Saarinen, it is also a good example of his neo-futurist style. From the outside, it is a brick cylinder and around this cylinder, moats symbolically make the place an island of serenity. Inside, hidden windows allow the reflections of the sun to ripple on the walls and a metal sculpture designed by Harry Bertoia captures the light coming from above. Gropius House & Museum - La maison musée de Gropius (Texte en français ci-dessous) The Gropius House & Museum is for you if you like the minimalist architecture of the Bauhaus. Gropius, the master of the movement, has long taught at Harvard University after fleeing Nazi Germany. The house he had built in Lincoln, on land donated by one of his admirers, is now a museum run by Historic New England. His use of innovative materials (chrome, glass blocks, acoustic coatings ...) combined with the traditional elements of New England architecture have revolutionized the way buildings were made at the time and are now found in many contemporary buildings. Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts   (texte en français ci-dessous) Situated next to the Harvard Art Museum in Cambridge, the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts is often ignored. At first indeed, it's only a somewhat ugly concrete brutalist structure in the middle of all these very classical New England buildings you have seen. It's only when you look at it more closely that you see it's quite an interesting work of art in its own way. Enter it to visit its gallery, and you'll have a better view of what Le Corbusier had in mind when he draw the plans of this place. If you can tour it with a guide, it will be even better. On top of that, it's just a short detour when you follow Walk in Boston # 18 , and the gallery is free to visit. Addison Gallery of American Art - Phillips Academy - Andover, MA (texte en français ci-dessous) A gallery well worth a visit in the very New England city of Andover, at the more than prestigious Phillips Academy. It's at about 20 miles from Boston. Small museum is a better name to describe this place full of American Art masterpieces on 3 floors in about 6 galleries. Some  are very unusual like its superb collection of models American ships, some are cutting edge. There's also an extensive collection of photographs shown on a rotating basis in thematic exhibitions. Night flight by Howardena Pindell 2015-16 (texte en français ci-dessous) About the Howardena Pindell retrospective at the Rose Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham, "What remains to be seen": even if you don't especially like the artist 's works, once again the Rose Museum offers an exciting show as it allows to follow Pindell creation since the 1960s until now, with her recurring themes and the transformations she operated following personal dramas and/or the evolution of the time. It's quite unusual to get 50 years of work under the same roof and it explains why, for once, her work is spread over all the galleries of the museum.
