3 woodcuts

Started in January with 4 other ones, it took me a while to finish them but I've been wanting to add animals to my collection for a while so here they are, in order of appearance:

  • Cat: initially it was just going to be a black and white silhouette of a cat and that's how I engraved it, the quintessence of a cat in the window, but ultimately the color adds something more mysterious .
  • En famille: this is not the image I thought I would use when I thought about what I was going to engrave this year but the one I had in mind turned out to be too detailed so I looked in my photos from years past and it was this one that I had totally forgotten. I like cows, thoughtful, quiet.
  • Le coq: last year I went to an Airbnb and its owner had a lot of chickens in front of the house, it made people stop and she had even planned to organize a drawing competition for the neighborhood children so I I said to myself, why not make a rooster which is also the emblematic animal of France.

Commencées en janvier, avec 4 autres, il m'a fallu un certain temps pour les finir mais je voulais depuis un moment ajouter des animaux à ma collection alors voila, dans l'ordre d'apparence:

  • Cat: au départ, ce devait juste être une silhouette de chat en noir et blanc et c'est comme cela que je l'avais gravée, la quintessence d'un chat à la fenêtre, mais finalement, la couleur ajoute quelque chose de plus mystérieux .
  • En famille: ce n'est pas l'image que je pensais utiliser quand j'ai réfléchi à ce que j'allais graver cette année mais celle que j'avais en vue s'est avérée trop détaillée alors je suis allé voir dans mes photos des années passées et ça a été celle-ci que j'avais totalement oubliée.J'aime les vaches, songeuses, paisibles.
  • Le coq: l'an dernier je suis allé dans un Airbnb et sa propriétaire avait beaucoup de poules devant la maison, ça faisait s'arrêter les gens et elle avait même prévu d'organiser un concours de dessins pour les enfants du quartier alors je me suis dit, tiens, pourquoi pas faire un coq qui est aussi l'animal emblématique de la France.

Open to the public in March 2019, it is made of interconnected stairs on 16 floors; its platforms overlook the skyscrapers that have also emerged in this place at about the same time, and on the Hudson River in the distance, behind the subway depot that gives its name to the place. Le Temps des amours IV, 2nd ed (the time of love IV, 2nd ed) A l'orée du bois (at the wood's edge) (texte en français ci-dessous) Most of my larger prints are now on ldart.work . "A l'orée du bois", is a hand colored linocut I made in 2000, and re-printed in 2011. For the 2nd edition, I kept the same colors but less of them, and I cut the block on the left side to make it a 6x16"image instead of the 6x16.5" it was before. I wanted this print to look like some of the cave painting you see in the South West of France. "Le temps des amours IV" is also a linocut and also a second edition but this time, I didn't change anything except the paper!
